Senior Spotlight: Meet Kathleen Freeman, Senior Credential Analyst Consultant

August 3, 2026

At The Evaluation Company, every credential evaluation represents an important next step for an applicant. Our Senior Spotlight series introduces the experienced team members who help make that work possible.

Meet Kathleen Freeman

Kathleen “Kate” Freeman is a Senior Credential Analyst Consultant at The Evaluation Company, bringing decades of experience in international education, international admissions, and credential evaluation.

Her career began two weeks after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, when she traveled to Morocco to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer. For two years, Kate taught English at a lycée in northeastern Morocco.

After returning to the United States, Kate taught ESL, earned her master’s degree, and later taught ESL in Taiwan. She then began a 25-year career in international student advising, international student admission, and credential evaluation at Luther College, Monmouth University, and Drexel University.

For Kate, one of the most engaging parts of credential evaluation is the variety of the work.

“Every day is different,” she says. “Sometimes, the credentials are fairly straightforward, but then you get a credential or institution that requires hours of research.”

She particularly enjoys researching Spain, where she studied, along with France and Francophone Africa, which connect to her time living and teaching in Morocco.

Helping Applicants Reach Their Goals

What Kate finds most rewarding is knowing that her work can help someone realize a dream or reach an important goal.

Credential evaluation helps applicants present their academic backgrounds clearly to colleges and universities, employers, licensing boards, and other organizations in the United States. Behind every document is an individual working toward a next step, whether that involves education, employment, licensure, or another opportunity.

Kate’s experience in international education and credential evaluation brings valuable context to that process. Her work reflects TEC’s commitment to providing informed evaluations that help applicants move forward with confidence.

Contributions to the Profession

Over the course of her career, Kate has contributed extensively to the credential evaluation field through research, writing, leadership, and mentoring.

She is especially proud of being selected as a Fulbright Scholar in Germany and being inducted into the Hall of Acclaim of The Association of International Credential Evaluation Professionals (TAICEP).

Kate has also written numerous publications and contributed many country profiles to AACRAO EDGE. One contribution that is especially meaningful to her is her work on the educational system of Morocco. Those publications were informed by her own personal experience as an educator in the country.

Supporting the International Education Community

In addition to her professional roles, Kate has volunteered in leadership positions that support the international education and credential evaluation communities.

Her service includes:

  • Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Area Peace Corps Association
  • Secretary and Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors of TAICEP
  • Chair of the Recruitment, Admission and Placement Knowledge Community of NAFSA: Association of International Educators
  • Several leadership roles with NAFSA Region VIII

Beyond the Evaluations

Outside of work, Kate enjoys traveling with her husband, watching television, crafting, cooking, baking, reading, and theatre.
